Our first event of 2016 is “The Big Chat” on 23rd January 2pm – 4pm at St Martins School. Amongst other things, the event will be the first part of our consultation process for re-writing our Community Plan later in the year. We are inviting local residents and organisations to come along and find out about what has been going on, about the projects and initiatives that we have funded, and to have their say in what we fund going forward. Partnership members will be on hand to talk to people about the programme and encourage them to have their say in the future of Big Local in this area.
We are very excited to have Local Trust Chief Executive Debbie Ladds joining us for the event. Local Trust is the organisation that manages the Big Local programme (covering 150 Big Local Areas) across England on behalf of the Big Lottery. Debbie is coming to find out about our area and to talk to local people, and her attendance at the event will put a spotlight on Three Parishes Big Local.
Three Parishes Big Local has been selected as one of 15 Big Local areas to take part in a media project known as “Our Bigger Story” that is tracking the impact that Big Local makes in local communities. This project is being managed by Birmingham University and a representative will be attending this event to make video, photography and interview records as part of this national project.
The theme for the event is afternoon tea and we are providing free refreshments, catered by St Martins School Supporters Club (the PTA). To support this theme, we are holding a competition open to all residents to design an Afternoon tea menu which will be judged on the afternoon. Competition entry forms are available from St Martins School, St Martins Community Centre, Gobowen School, Gobowen Library, Weston Rhyn School and Weston Rhyn Post Office, or by contacting Bridget at Qube on 01691 656882. The competition entry form is also available for download by clicking here.
