Diabetes is becoming increasingly common but it is estimated that 80% of Type 2 Diabetes cases are avoidable. Simple lifestyle changes have been shown to help delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. To help prevent Type 2 Diabetes and its complications, people of all ages should:
• achieve and maintain a healthy body weight;
• be physically active
• eat a healthy diet and
• avoid tobacco use.
Once Diabetes has developed, there are more lifestyle adaptations which can help to manage the potentially serious complications.
For anyone concerned about their Diabetes, or at risk of developing the condition, Shropshire Rural Communities Charity is hosting a Diabetes Awareness Programme in The St Martins Centre on Thursdays, 3rd and 10th May.
The programme runs as two afternoon sessions and is free of charge to people with Diabetes, their families and anyone who is concerned about developing the condition.
Everyone is welcome but places must be booked in advance by phoning Jayne at SRCC on 01743 360641 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
